A Day in the Life |

Daily Schedule 7 am - Rise and shine! Citizens eat breakfast and get ready for work/school at home. Different jobs require different dress (for example, a farmer wears lightweight flannel shirts and shorts for laborious work in the sun, while a doctor might wear something a bit more sophisticated; dressing up is never required on Farraige Belle, but a bit fancier clothing is necessary in some situations). Children too young for school (under 5) are taken to caregivers during this time.

All food on Farraige Belle is produced organically and locally. The use of pesticides and chemicals is absolutely prohibited. The meals are guaranteed to be both fresh and healthy. Citizens return to work/school at one o'clock on the dot. 3 pm - Everyone is released from work at the same time and allowed to participate in leisure activities of their choosing. Some popular activities include surfing, swimming, collecting shells, sight-seeing, walking/running, and organized gameplay. Artistry is also encouraged during this time. Music and other artistic endeavours like painting ![]() too young for school, comes together for dinner in each districts' dining hall at this time. Dinner is similar to lunch and, of course, very nutritional. Families may choose to sit together or apart during these meals. There are often bonfires on the beach afterwards, complete with much singing and dancing. 12:30 am - Curfew! By this time, all families must be inside their homes and quieted down. While there's no set "bed time," everyone knows they must be at work by eight am sharp! ** Exceptions to the rules: Once a month, the citizens of Farraige Belle are given one "holiday." This is simply a day to unwind and relax, although many with daily obligations must still briefly report to their jobs. Also, servers and chefs have slightly different hours (with the same amount of free time) and doctors must be ready to jump to action at any time. Citizens are also allowed sick days, although they are investigated if they seem to be abusing them. ![]() 8 am - Roll call is taken at work/school at 8 o'clock on the dot. Punctuality is stressed on Farraige Belle, and only three "late" strikes are allowed per year before excommunication is threatened. To get to work, citizens walk or ride bike on the island's well-manicured dirt paths (pictured left). The physical exercise keeps everyone fit, and the elimination of gas and carbon emissions keeps Farraige Belle safe. 12 pm to 1 pm - Workers and students are allowed a one-hour lunch break during this time. Unlike breakfast, lunches are eaten in the district's ![]() and drawing are not acceptable occupations because they have no beneficial value (for more information on possible careers, click here), but they are applauded as displays of individualism and creativity in free time. While being active is highly stressed during this period, some citizens may also simply choose to go home and nap. Books, magazines, and newspapers, which are printed new weekly and are available at pathside stands, are free and greatly enjoyed in the shade of the palms. 6 pm - The whole community, including children ![]() |
