Government This page contains all you'll ever need to know about the government of Farraige Belle. Scroll down to find government information, basic rules, the general code of conduct, the declaration of independence, and information about currency and shipping on the island.
Basic Rules These rules, when followed, preserve the goals of Farraige Belle - to create a peaceful, safe, clean society where people may live without the stressors caused by everyday life in other countries. They also follow the island's very important values of honesty, loyalty, duty, patriotism, and peace. They apply to all people, at all times, in all situations. Any breakage, however minor, will result in immediate discommunication from Farraige Belle and the risk of the discommuncation of one's family as well.
* Rule #2 may be broken ONLY for those who work with the butchering of animals or maintenance and ONLY when they are completing the aforementioned tasks. ** Rule #6 may be broken only through the use of electrical kitchen appliances, landline telephones, emergency medical procedures, and laptops/printers in the printing offices (1 each per district). These are powered by solar panels.
General Code of Conduct Farraige Belle is not for everyone. In order to both fit in and enjoy life on the island, you must be willing to give up many things. You must also have a certain set of virtues. Farraige Belle's society is built on the values of honesty, duty, loyalty, patriotism, and peace. Individuality is encouraged to a certain extent, but complete equality must also remain. Members must be willing to completely trade technologies (other than those necessary for cooking, making landline phone calls, performing emergency medical procedures, and printing/writing through JOB ONLY), alcohol, drugs, religion, money, cars, sexual relations (outside of marriage), and many other modern-day conveniences for a much simpler life. They must also be willing to share everything they have and work, always, towards the greater good. If you feel like this life would suit you, click here to submit an application.
Declaration of Independence We have risen from the dust of a world gone mad. We have emerged from beneath the rubble. We have climbed from the landfills and escaped the clouded air. We have broken free, and we will never return. Let it be heard, in these words, that we as a people will thrive on forever. We have tasted the sweetness of true peace, and there is no turning back. No longer will we stand beside our brother and wonder if a knife will strike out to stab us in the back. Our lungs will not inhale the poisonous smog. We will breathe clean air, never touched by the fumes of automobiles. Our minds will be clear and clean, and our children will play in the sunlight. They will not cower in their dark rooms with portable screens clutched in their greedy fingers. Our thoughts will never be confused by the deadly touch of toxins like alcohol and drugs. Our bodies will grow strong and tall and our minds will flourish in the cleanliness. We will not act out in violence and rage, because we will understand that this will only lead us on the path to self-destruction. We will work for ourselves, but we will also work for everyone around us. We will move as a whole. We will not selfishly wonder how our actions will benefit ourselves. Instead, we will take the well-being of our neighbors into account. This will be possible because here, everything will belong to everybody. A good decision for one will be a good decision for all. We have learned from the mistakes of our ancestors and those we have left behind. We have watched them become consumed by their luxuries. We have witnessed their anger and their jealousy. These things can only be caused by everything we have eliminated. They will never overtake us, because here they will never exist. With these statements and for these reasons, we make our declaration of freedom. No longer are we bound to anyone other than ourselves. We are our own independent country with our own individual rights, rules, and ways. We are self-governed and self-sustained. We are, and will forever be, independent.
The Currency/Shipping Factor There is no currency on Farraige Belle. Money simply is not a necessary distraction. Throughout history, it has been known to cause strife between the best of people and lead to countless wars. Instead, the people of Farraige Belle share everything they have. Food and other goods are distributed absolutely equally and on a regular schedule. For many years, this method has worked without a flaw. It has also succeeded in eliminating greed, jealousy, and mistrust. For the most part, Farraige Belle is completely independent of other nations. However, there ARE some goods that cannot be produced on the island. Electrical wiring for kitchen appliances, however minimal, must still be purchased from outside sources. The appliances themselves must be as well, along with telephone landlines, certain medical supplies, and certain items required by the printers and writers. These things are usually donated by helpful countries who are interested in Farraige Belle's ways. However, if nobody is willing to hand them over for free, Bernard Byrne did leave the rest of his fortune in a treasury. The treasury has been divided amongst the districts and is watched over by the officials in each district's law house. Supplies like the aforementioned are restocked annually or can be obtained in emergency situations. |
