What are the requirements of living in Farraige Belle?

There are many guidelines that an applicant of Farraige Belle must consider, but the basic ones are the values of duty, honesty, loyalty, patriotism, and peace without any conflict. Applicants must also be willing to give up conveniences like electronics and money.

How do you survive without money?

Nobody has money on Farraige Belle, so nobody needs it. Everybody shares everything. All necessities and skills are equally distributed, so there is no need to "buy" anything. Bernard Byrne also left a treasury, so it IS available in the case of emergencies and the (rare) interactions Farraige Belle has with other countries.

How do you see at night without the use of lights?

The citizens of Farraige Belle are often active at night. The moon is often bright enough for outdoor activities, especially due to its reflection upon the water, but bonfires along the beach also aid sight outside. Indoors, candles and portable lanterns provide ample brightness.

What do you do for entertainment on the island?

The citizens of Farraige Belle are never bored, contrary to what people might think. They take part in many wholesome outdoor activities, including surfing, flying kites, biking, swimming, playing games, kayaking, canoeing, and lying on the beach. There are also nightly bonfires.

What do you live in? What types of architecture does Farriage Belle have?

The houses on Farraige Belle are simply wooden huts with thatched roofs. All families are given their own huts and people of the same gender can share a hut, but males and females that are not related cannot live together until they are married.

Is the practice of religion allowed?

No; religion is banned on the island.

What are the duties of island citizens?

Each citizen must, of course, comply with the island's rules. They must also work the required 7 hours a day and, ultimately, towards the greater good. Selfishness is not tolerated.

How big is the island?

Farraige Belle is roughly the size of Ohio (around 41,000 square miles).

How many hours per day are citizens required to work?

The workday extends from 8 am to 3 pm with a one-hour lunch break, for a total of 7 hours.

What type of government/polotics does the island take part in?

The island is, loosely, a democracy. Citizens vote together on major decisions (this doesn't happen often), but minor decisions are decided by elected representatives. The representatives also take care of all foreign matters.

Is alcohol allowed on Farraige Belle?

No, alcohol is banned from the island. This is one of the strictest rules.

What types of media are there?

Electronics are not allowed on Farraige Belle, so movies and television shows are nonexistant. Only magazines, newspapers, and monthly newsletters are allowed.

Is art permitted?

Art is allowed as a hobby. However, there is no such thing as a professional artist. It is not an acceptable occupation. The same goes for music.

Is the island rural or urban?

The island is dominantly rural. There is a central "business area," but it is smal; and still consists only of a cluster of wooden huts that serve as offices.

What are the different modes of transportation on the island?

Motor vehicles are prohibited. Citizens get around by riding bike or walking.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, but only domestic dogs and cats. Livestock may NOT be kept as pets, and wild animals may not be tamed.

Is tobacco allowed?

No; the same rules that apply for alcohol are in place for tobacco as well.

How are major decisions on Farraige Belle dealt with?

Major decisions are brought up and delt with by majority vote. Minor decisions are decided by the elected representatives in each district. Luckily, major decisions do not come up often. They usually have to do with the spending of treasury money for outside goods.
